Marvin D. Archie, Jayden Scales Death – The victims of the shooting on Angel Garden Way off of Decker Blvd have been identified as 16-year-old Jayden Scales and 36-year-old Marvin D. Archie, according to the Richland County Coroner’s Office.
The 14-year-old who sustained a gunshot wound in his leg and was taken to the hospital has not been identified yet. The incident has left community members with lingering questions and concerns about their safety.
One community member, who preferred to remain anonymous, mentioned that although he didn’t hear the gunshots, he witnessed the presence of emergency vehicles. The individual expressed shock at experiencing such violence in their neighborhood, especially as a military veteran.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department responded to the shooting around 7 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a man who claimed to be injured but not shot.
Further investigation led them to discover an unresponsive 35-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy who were pronounced dead at a nearby location.
The 14-year-old with a gunshot wound was transported to the hospital. The community member expressed concern for the safety of his grandchildren and questioned the Sheriff’s department’s assertion that the shooting was an isolated incident.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office has not provided any information regarding the suspect or potential leads.
