Christian Samay Obituary, Death – Christian Mark Samay’s early arrival in heaven will be a blessing to his loved ones and the nation he served with such devotion. His heart of a lion, his infectious laugh, his charisma, his grin, his enthusiasm for life, his devotion to the people he loved and protected, and his distinctive sense of humor defined his 22 years on this planet. Proud parents Christian and Allison (Blender) Samay welcomed their first child, Christian, into the world.
At nine months of age, he began to walk, demonstrating innate athleticism. Every opponent he encountered on life’s playing fields could feel his unrivaled work ethic and see his God-given athletic abilities. In his youth, he was a dominant force on the Mountain Lakes lacrosse team and the club soccer squad that went on to win the state championship, a spot in the national top ten, and the inaugural title as representatives of the United States U18 team in the Barcelona Summer Cup.
As a two-year captain of his high school soccer team, he exemplified the ideal team player: loyal, strong, and physically imposing. He had a wonderful time growing up in Mountain Lakes and will always cherish the memories of his closest friends and family from kindergarten through high school. Christian attended Bucknell University after graduating from Mountain Lakes High School in 2020. He studied political science with a minor in legal studies.
During his time at Bucknell, he was an active member of the Phi Gama Delta (FIJI) fraternity and a Dean’s List student. In his junior year, he was elected to the positions of vice president and treasurer. Having fun with his closest friends at Bucknell was one of Christian’s favorite parts of life. In this life or the next, nothing can separate them. During the summers, Christian worked as an analyst for an investment bank, but he knew deep down that he belonged in the legal profession, where he could use his persuasive abilities, great communication skills, and commitment to doing what’s right to good use.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with loved ones at the beach and golf (and mini-golf) courses. Going on boat excursions at sunset and waterskiing on the wide bay were two of his favorite things to do in Normandy. He also enjoyed spending time at the beach, planting an American flag in the sand beside him, and generally being a goofball who could make anyone laugh until they were crying. In addition to his extensive historical knowledge, this intelligent, powerful, and gorgeous man took meticulous care of his intellect and physique by exercising regularly.
The influence that Christian had on those around him will remain long after he has passed away. His affection for those he cared about and his enthusiasm for life permeated every moment of his existence. He would frequently commit random acts of kindness for complete strangers and would always defend his loved ones and do what was right. Being as laid-back and self-assured as a breeze, he had a knack of making everyone around him feel special. Just as the sun rises and sets every day, so too will his positive light shine on us all eternally.
Ava and Emily Samay, Christian’s beloved sisters, and their parents, Christian and Allison Samay of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, are among Christian’s surviving relatives. His aunt Heather and her husband Steve Nyberg, his uncle Eric Samay, his cousins Matthew, Katie, Brendan, Natalie, Tyler, and Ali Nyberg, as well as his maternal grandfather Mark Blender and paternal grandparents Z. Lance and Linda Mack, are among his survivors. His uncle Scott and his wife Susan Samay are also among them. You are incredibly loved and deeply missed by all of us.
