A man and a juvenile have been charged in connection with a shooting in New Haven on Halloween that left an 18-year-old woman dead and multiple others injured.

The shooting was reported on Nov. 1 just after 2:30 a.m. when officers working the Halloween night bar detail responded to gunfire in the area of Church and Center Street, according to the New Haven Police Department.

Officers found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds, including Alexa Acevedo of Norwich who was pronounced dead, police said. The two other victims, a 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, were taken to a hospital.

A fourth person suffering from a gunshot wound, identified as 19-year-old Charles Woodall of East Hartford, took himself to Yale New Haven Hospital where he received treatment, according to police.

Police said Det. Brandon Way of the Major Crimes Unit investigated the case under Sgt. Jeremy Mastroianni and was able to obtain arrest warrants for three individuals believed to be involved in the shooting, including Woodall.

“His investigation determined that Woodall was not just a victim but also a participant in the shooting which stemmed from an altercation between himself and several other people earlier in the evening,” police said in a statement issued late Monday.

The juvenile who was arrested faces murder and several other charges, according to police. His name is being withheld until the case is transferred to adult court.

The third individual wanted in the shooting has not been arrested, police said.
