Theresa Sechrist Obituary – A 65-year-old woman from Cana, Virginia, Mrs. Theresa Gale Rutherford Sechrist went away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. The late William Vance Rutherford and Dorothy Duncan Rutherford Semones gave birth to Mrs. Sechrist on October 30, 1958, in Forsyth County. A devoted pastor’s wife, Theresa also served as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Until her health declined, she made regular trips to her church, New Life Baptist.
Anyone who knew her will miss her terribly. In addition to her husband of 48 years, Dwight Sechrist, two sons and daughters-in-law, Travis and Hope Sechrist, and Joshua and Autumn Sechrist, five grandchildren, Colten, Payten, Sylas, Addy, and Maggy Sechrist; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Delores and Kenneth Shumate, and Lesa and Ronald Sizemore, and a sister-in-law, Pam Rutherford; stepmother Phyllis Rutherford, and a slew of nieces and nephews will also be remembered.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Sechrist had a brother named Eugene Rutherford and a stepfather named Roger Semones who passed away before her. Blues Grove Baptist Church will host a funeral ceremony on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 3:00 PM. Officiating will be Pastors Dwight, Travis, Joshua, and David Sechrist. The New Life Baptist Church Cemetery will then be the site of the interment.
Blues Grove Baptist Church will host a visitation for the family on Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The Sechrist family is incredibly grateful to the caregivers at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for all the kindness and compassion they showed to Mrs. Sechrist. Contributions in honor of the deceased may be sent to the New Life Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 3080 Haystack Road, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030, in place of flowers. Mount Airy’s Moody Funeral Services is in charge of the arrangements.
