Mark Doll Obituary – Originally from Portsmouth, Mark William Doll, age 68, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was a resident of Huntington. William E. and Wilma (Fugitt) Doll, who have now passed away, were his parents. He was born in Portsmouth on July 9, 1955. Mark participated in the United States Air Force for a period of four years, during which time he worked as a security detail and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. Mark graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1973. Mark worked at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland for a total of 26 years, during which time he received both his Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification and his Bachelor of General Studies degree from Shawnee State University. Mark had been a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes for his entire life, and he cherished the time he got to spend with his family and friends.
Mark’s wife Nancy (McNeely) Doll, his stepdaughter Shannon Napier-Rowe (Larry II) of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, his brother Martin Doll of Portsmouth, his sister Barbara Doll Schwamberger (Ed) of Portsmouth, his two grandchildren Larry III and Sara, his nieces and nephews Paul, Laurie, and Rachel, and a special sister-in-law Patty Wheeler are among those who survive him.
John “JC” Simon, Joe Canter, Tim Dodasky, and Phil Malone are some of Mark’s remaining best friends from Portsmouth. Mark also leaves behind Phil Malone.
On the Monday, April 8, 2024, at one o’clock in the afternoon, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth, with Father Michael Fulton serving as the celebrant. After that, military honors will be performed at the graveside at Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth. The American Legion, James Dickey Post #23, will be the proud organization that will carry out these services.
On Monday, there will be a visiting for friends and family at the church beginning at eleven in the morning and continuing until the hour of the Mass. The arrangements are being handled by Melcher Hammer Funeral Home, which is located in Portsmouth.
