Bishop Huonder Death – The news that His Lordship, Bishop Vitus Huonder, passed away today, which is Easter Wednesday, has left us in a state of deep sorrow. In spite of the fact that he was aware that his sickness was terminal, he decided to give his soul up to God after a brief bout with illness. His hospitalization occurred on the 19th of March, 2024, which was the Feast of Saint Joseph.
On the 25th of March, which was Holy Monday and also the Feast of the Annunciation, the diagnosis of his illness was disclosed to the appropriate parties. From that point forward, Bishop Huonder shown unequivocal submission to the will of Divine Providence and persistently offered his sufferings for the benefit of the Catholic Church. In addition, he expressed his unending gratitude to the Society of Saint Pius X, and in particular to the Institut Sancta Maria in Wangs, Switzerland, where he was able to spend his final years.
He was filled with the profound joy of continuing to fulfill a beautiful ministry as a shepherd of souls, and he was an admirable example of prayer and love for the Blessed Sacrament. We ask that you pray fervently for his soul, so that he may find the bliss that lasts forever as soon as it is possible. The information on his funeral will be made public as soon as it is available to do so.
