James Ledford Obituary, James Ledford aka “Jamie” Willard Lee and Carrie Ledford, Jamie’s late parents, welcomed him into the world on May 22, 1978. His late father-in-law Terry Rice, late brothers-in-law Jerry Singleton and Kelby Rice, as well as his late grandparents Truman and Maggie Ledford and Truman and Mary Crochan, all loved him. On March 30, 2024, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, he went to be with them in Heaven.
Although Jamie had a great influence on a great number of people, working with the kids he served on his bus route was his greatest achievement. He played music, gave fist pumps, and spent ten years making all the kids feel safe and loved at Roane County Schools Bus Transportation. He developed a lot of friends during his 25 years of prior employment at Mikes Masonry with Mike Heinze, but his pal Tree was always there.
Jamie loved racing on dirt tracks and was always happy to lend a hand to buddies Ted Lowe and Gary Lively to get ready for the next race. In addition, Jamie enjoyed working with his friend Red Lawson at the Blair Fire Department, going fishing, and watching UGA football. Jamie’s wife of 22 years, Shannon Ledford, survives him. His siblings, Penny (Jason) Hall of Wartburg, Tennessee, and Truman (Mindy) of Nashville, Tennessee, as well as their mothers-in-law, Donna Rice of Coalfield, Tennessee, and Ruthie (Andy) Fadnek and Beth Rice of Coalfield, Tennessee, all remain.
Austin Hall, Haven Hall, Hannah Hall, Nick (Christina) Ledford, Holly Ledford, Corey (Brooke) Singleton, Courtney (Doug) Burress, Lindsey (Corey) Verner, Tymber (Daren) Luna, Logan (Kaitlyn) Fadnek, and his “little man,” Corben Rice, all held a very special place in Jamie’s heart. Along with Cage, Caselyn Singleton, and Cheyenne Verner, his great nieces and nephews.
Donations to the Blair Fire Department or Schubert Funeral Home may be made in place of flowers. The Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg will host the family’s visitation on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. The funeral will take place at 5:30 p.m. Then there will be an interment in Lancing’s Montgomery Cemetery.
