Alma Vaughn Obituary, Death – On March 30, 2024, Alma Jean Vaughn, 94, of Winchester, died quietly in her home with her family by her side. Her parents, Strauder and Florence Witt, brothers, Dallas and Doris Witt, niece Karen Witt, stepgreat-grandson Christian Wilhold, and first and second husbands, Jack W. Lail and Brady Vaughn, Jr., all passed away before her. Her son Steven Lail of Winchester, Ky.; daughter Debra (Robert) Gilliland of Winchester, Ky.; and sister Dorothy (Collis) Moberly of Richmond, Ky. survive her.
Grandkids Great-grandchildren Lauren (Ryan) Grigsby, Winchester, Ky.; Keaton (Maddie) Aldridge, Winchester, Ky.; Karlee (Ethan) Thomas, Winchester, Ky.; Jake and Maddie Osborne, Speedwell, TN; Cameron and Shelby Toler, Winchester, Ky.; Sara, Riley, and Drew Gilliland, Charlotte, NC; Colten and Caden Wilhold, Huntsville, AL Grandchildren of great-grandchildren Ryder Aldridge and Everlee Grigsby both reside in Winchester, Kentucky. Alma also had two nephews, Donnie Witt of Dayton, OH, and Gregg (Tami) Moberly of Winchester, KY, as well as a niece, Linda Meshulum of Dayton, OH.
In 1947, Alma earned her diploma from Mt. Sterling High School. She spent 20 years working at different beauty salons in the area after attending beauty school in Lexington, Kentucky. She went to night classes and graduated with a degree in typing and business. She then got a job at Clark Energy, where she worked until she retired. She spent fifteen years volunteering at Clark Regional Medical Center after retiring. She placed great value on her friends, family, and church. She enjoyed having everyone in one place. We really appreciate the love and support she received from her caregivers, Kathy and Diane Jones.
Floyd David Aldridge, Ethan Thomas, Ryan Grigsby, Keaton Aldridge, and David Aldridge will all be pallbearers. Jim Gilliland, Drew Gilliland, Lynn Toler, Brent Osborne, and Jake Osborne will serve as honorary pallbearers. Pastor Pat Finley will conduct services at Grace Baptist Church, 5990 Lexington Road, Winchester, KY 40391, on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Winchester Cemetery will be the site of the funeral. The hours of visitation are 10:30–12.
