The small, tight-knit town of Lineville is waking up to some truly heartbreaking news this week. A young life was cut short far too soon in a violent collision that has left family, friends, and neighbors leaning on one another for support. Skylar C. Glenn, just 27 years old, passed away following a devastating two-vehicle accident early Sunday morning, leaving a hole in the community that many say will be impossible to fill.

It was a quiet Sunday morning on December 21 when the tragedy unfolded. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash happened around 6:51 a.m. along a stretch of U.S. Highway 431. The location, near the 213-mile marker, is about eight miles southwest of Heflin in Cleburne County. For many who travel that road, it’s a familiar route, but for the families involved, it became the site of a life-changing disaster.

State Troopers report that Skylar was a passenger in a 2013 Honda CR-V at the time of the wreck. Their vehicle was traveling along the highway when it collided head-on with a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The impact was massive, and the details coming from the scene are difficult to hear. Authorities noted that Skylar was not wearing a seat belt when the collision occurred.

Emergency responders arrived as quickly as they could, but sadly, Skylar’s injuries were too severe. They were pronounced dead right there at the scene. It’s the kind of news no family should ever have to receive, especially during a time of year when people are usually coming together to celebrate and make happy memories.

The tragedy didn’t stop there. The driver of the Chrysler, 83-year-old Jerre L. Dingler of Delta, also lost his life in the crash. Like Skylar, Jerre was pronounced deceased at the scene by local officials. It’s a double blow for the area, claiming the lives of both a young person just starting their journey and a long-standing member of the nearby Delta community.

There is a small glimmer of hope for the third person involved. The driver of the Honda, 29-year-old Destinee S. Easterwood, survived the initial impact. She was rushed to UAB Hospital in Birmingham to be treated for her injuries. While the extent of her recovery isn’t fully known yet, the community is holding its collective breath and sending prayers her way.

Skylar Glenn is being remembered today as someone who was deeply loved. To those in Lineville, Skylar wasn’t just a name in a police report; they were a friend, a family member, and a vibrant soul who made an impact on everyone they met. The grief is heavy right now, and the local community is asking for everyone to keep Skylar’s loved ones in their thoughts as they navigate these incredibly dark days. Rest in peace, Skylar.
