A man is in stable but serious condition after being shot early Saturday morning in Windsor, officials said.
On Saturday around 12:21 a.m., Windsor police officers said they responded to Giovanni’s Restaurant at 578 Windsor Ave. for a shooting.
Upon arrival, police said they located a man on the kitchen floor of Giovanni’s, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was rushed into surgery, and is in stable but serious condition, police said.
An alert was sent out to police departments throughout the Northeast advising them that Windsor police were attempting to locate a vehicle described by a witness at the scene. New York State Police stopped the vehicle and took the suspect into custody. The suspect was transported to a police precinct in New York City on weapons charges, police said.
The suspect, who has not been identified, is currently being held in New York and expected to face charges for the incident in Windsor.
The shooting is currently under investigation, police said.
