Jeffrey Carter Obituary, Death – Jeffrey M. Carter, a resident of Middleboro and a former Plymouth resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28th, in his home, following a courageous fight with cancer. His loved ones were by his side during his final hours. Carter was born on March 22, 1949, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, to the late George W. and Marjorie (Neal) Carter. He went to Plymouth-Carver High School and graduated in 1967 after receiving his education there.
Then, during the Vietnam War, Jeff became a member of the United States Navy. After Jeff got out of the Navy in May of 1972, he went to work for the Plymouth Fire Department. For 30 years, he was the union president of Local #1768, and he coordinated with other unions on a national and worldwide level to defend firefighters’ and their families’ rights. On July 14, 2007, after 35 years of service, Jeff retired from the department.
Aruba was a frequent stop for Jeff and Mel after he retired because it was one of his favorite destinations. He loved being outside and doing things like hunting and fishing. His devoted wife Melodie A. (Peltola) Carter is Jeff’s only surviving relative. The following individuals are his direct descendants: Joshua M. Carter of Berkley and Tom Carter of Cranston, Rhode Island, as well as his stepdaughter Trisha Manganello of Plympton and her husband Billy, and his stepson Terrence Sullivan of Carver.
Debra Carter of Carver and Susan Friedman of Amesbury are his siblings. Christian and Bella, among many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, counted Jeff among their relatives. Wednesday, April 3rd, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, you are invited to visit the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home at 373 Court St. North Plymouth, close to Cordage Park.
At 6:30 o’clock, there will be a service. Vine Hills Crematory is where the cremation will be conducted. The American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org/donate/today) or the Muscular Dystrophy Association (https://mda.donordrive.com) can accept memorial contributions in his honor.
