Darlene Ray Obituary, Death – Ruby I. (Derry) Gooden and Thurmel T. Gooden became parents for the first time on December 4, 1938, in the town of Watonga, Oklahoma. Their daughter, Darlene Ray, was born into this world. The death of Darlene occurred on March 27, 2024 in the city of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She had reached the age of 85 at the time of her passing. It was in the year 1956 when Darlene graduated from Watonga High School with her high school diploma.
She worked for Pioneer Telephone and held the position of switchboard operator. Her job title describes her duties. In order for her and Charles Ray to meet, one of her coworkers arranged for them to go on a blind date. This meeting finally resulted in the couple getting married on September 17, 1962 in Watonga, Oklahoma. There was a time when she worked as a hostess and server at R.B.’s Steakhouse in Watonga, where she was employed on a part-time basis.
Besides being a homemaker for her girls, Darlene took great delight in participating in all of the activities that her daughters participated in. It was the Blaine County Election Board that she worked for, and she was an employee there. She worked with ALCO for a short period of time after the death of Charles, although their employment was temporary. Bowling, sewing, reading, a broad variety of puzzles, making crafts, needlework, and gardening were some of Darlene’s favorite interests. She also enjoyed crafting and gardening.
Her daughters, Janice Demo and her husband Ron of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Peggy Lawson and her husband Chuck of Geary, Oklahoma, and Barbra Castleberry and her husband Clint of Moore, Oklahoma, as well as her step-daughters, Diane Moon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Nancy Fennel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and their families, her grandchildren, Sarah Jury and her husband Brian of Oklahoma City, T’Jae Ingoglia and her husband John of Germany, Jessi Alexander and her husband Chris of Clute, Texas, and Avery Castleberry of Moore, Oklahoma, her great-grandchildren, Zander Sealy, Calvin Ingoglia, and Caitlyn Ingoglia, her sister Carol Winn and her husband Bert of Watonga, Oklahoma, and her sister-in-law Eddie Gooden of Alvin, Texas, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, grea
Her parents, Thurmel and Ruby Gooden, as well as her husband, Charles Ray, and her brothers, Troy Wayne Gooden and John Dale Gooden, all went away before she did. Darlene was the last surviving member of her family.
