Brian Masterson Obituary Park Ridge, Illinois – The death has occurred of Brian Masterson, who was a longtime resident of Park Ridge, Illinois. He is the son of Edward Joseph Masterson, who passed away, and Catherine “Betty” Elizabeth (Colliver) Masterson, who also passed away. Survived by his wife, the former Cynthia Susanna Setto-Davison, to whom he was married for 18 years, his daughter Jessica Lojacono and her husband Brett of Williamsport, Maryland, his grandchildren Hayden, Ava, Carter, and Hadlee, his step-son William Davison Jr. of Somerset, and his brother Jeffrey Masterson and his wife Ann of Johnstown. Although Brian had graduated from Somerset High School in 1973, he had previously held the position of sales estimator at Berlin Lumber.
He was a member of Somerset Alliance Church, a highly active participant in the National High-Road Association (NHRA), and he enjoyed camping and sharpening blades. At the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Somerset, friends will be greeted from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m., with the Reverend Donald Robson serving as the officiant. His son Gavin, his daughter Siobhan, his cherished grandchildren Dylan, Olivia, and Brian, as well as his sons-in-law Erik Johnke and Albert Joseph Buckley, are among those who are left behind after his passing.
In addition, he is survived by a large number of nephews, nieces, family members, and friends. Brian was born on Long Island, New York, on the 30th of August, 1925. In the summer of 1943, he enlisted in the United States Navy. While serving as a Navy radioman in the Pacific, Brian was assigned to the destroyer USS Aulick (DD569). He was awarded four battle stars for his participation in naval combat during World War II. Brian and Joanne were a model of compassion and love, showing people around them what it means to be committed to loving another by caring for their son Colin, who was Brian’s “favorite sidekick.” Colin was a member of the family.
Brian expressed his belief that he and Joanne “had their greatest pride in their children, Colin (who was brain-impaired at birth), Gavin (Albert J. Buckley) and Siobhan Masterson (Erik Johnke), and in their beloved grandchildren, Dylan Patrick, Olivia Grace Masterson and Brian Gabriel who all are very special and dearly loved, as are Brian’s many nieces and nephews, here and abroad.”He attended the Most Precious Blood Church in Walden, where he was a member. Brian enjoyed playing golf and running in his spare time. The New York City Marathon was one of the many races he participated in throughout the Hudson Valley, and he ran it multiple times. Family was the most important thing in Brian’s life, and his children were his entire universe.
