County Police have charged 45-year-old William Adam in connection with an officer-involved shooting investigation in Bethel Park.
At 10:00 pm on January 29, Bethel Park Police attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Adam inside his apartment on Dorchester Drive. The arrest warrant was in connection to a domestic incident that had occurred earlier in the day at the apartment.
When officers attempted to enter the apartment, they discovered the door was partially barricaded. When officers were able to obtain sight into the apartment, Adam was seen holding a firearm and pointing it in the direction of officers.
After officers retreated, Adam entered the hallway of the apartment building multiple times while carrying the firearm and was shot by an officer. Adam was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit was requested, and detectives initiated an investigation. After consultation with the district attorney’s office, charges have been filed against Adam to include aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
The investigation into the officer-involved shooting remains ongoing.
