4 Dead In Buckingham County Accident Outside Of Farmville: State Police are currently investigating a tragic accident on Route 15 in Buckingham County, just outside Farmville, that resulted in the deaths of four individuals late Tuesday morning. The collision occurred around 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Route 15 and Hartwell Lane. Responding to the scene were State Police, Buckingham Department of Emergency Services, and volunteer fire companies from Dillwyn and Toga.
Preliminary reports from the State Police indicate that a southbound Ford Fusion, driven by 77-year-old Erika Henshaw of Dillwyn, crossed the center line and collided with a northbound Ford T350. The impact caused the Fusion to continue traveling north in the wrong lane, where it then struck a southbound Nissan Versa head-on. The force of the collision caused the Nissan Versa to run off the road and overturn.
Tragically, the crash claimed the lives of multiple individuals. Erika Henshaw, the driver of the Ford Fusion, and her passenger, 85-year-old Alvin Henshaw, both died at the scene. In the Nissan Versa, 66-year-old driver Runping Rhett of Alton and 37-year-old passenger Eric Truscott also died on-site. The driver of the Ford T350, who has not been named, was fortunate to escape the incident without injury. The cause of the crash is still under investigation as authorities work to determine the factors that led to this devastating event.
