Last night, our hearts shattered as we received the devastating news of Andrew’s passing in a tragic car accident. Andrew, a cherished member of our community, left us far too soon, leaving behind a void that cannot be filled. As we grapple with the shock and grief of his sudden departure, we come together to honor his memory and celebrate the light he brought into our lives.
At 9:10 p.m., the event happened in Kankakee, Illinois, on Illinois State Route 17 close to 4500 East. Jose L. Gaytan Gonzalez, 60, of Kankakee, Illinois, was driving a westbound Mitsubishi Mirage when it collided with Andrew R. Koster, 28, of St. Anne, Illinois, who was driving an eastbound Ford Fiesta. Gonzalez was driving in the incorrect direction. When the tragedy occurred, both people were proclaimed deceased. After receiving care at a nearby hospital, a young passenger in the Ford Fiesta was allowed to leave. Both people’s autopsies are set for May 21, 2024. Illinois State Police Troop 5 and the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office are still looking into this occurrence.
