Celina, Texas – March 22, 2026
The Celina Police Department is reinforcing its commitment to the safety and well-being of the community after responding to a large, unsupervised gathering that escalated into an alarming situation late last night.
According to a statement from Police Chief John Cullison, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Choate Parkway after receiving reports of a massive party fueled by a social media post. What started as a small gathering soon grew to an overwhelming crowd of between 500 and 800 teens and young adults. Authorities acted swiftly, ensuring crowd control and safety measures, which led to two arrests. One individual was apprehended for underage DUI, while another was taken into custody for an outstanding aggravated assault warrant out of Dallas County.
However, the situation took a dangerous turn when, as the crowd began to disperse, gunshots were heard in the area. Police immediately responded, entering the residence and conducting a thorough search. Fortunately, no one was found to have sustained injuries from the gunfire. Despite this, Chief Cullison emphasized the significant risks that such gatherings pose, particularly when they involve underage drinking or substance use.
“Scenes like these underscore the dangers that can quickly escalate in unsupervised settings, especially when fueled by social media and reckless behavior,” Cullison stated. “As both your Chief of Police and a parent, I urge families to have serious conversations with their children about the importance of responsibility and the potential consequences of these kinds of events.”
With an ongoing criminal investigation, the Celina Police Department is urging anyone with information related to criminal activity at the scene to come forward. Community members are encouraged to contact the department’s Criminal Investigation Unit at 972-382-2121.
Chief Cullison concluded with a reminder that the department will continue to be vigilant in responding to similar incidents and will take necessary enforcement actions to safeguard the community.
“Our mission remains clear: to ensure the safety of our teens, young adults, and all members of Celina,” he said. “We appreciate the continued cooperation of our community as we work together to keep our town safe.”
The department’s swift response and transparent communication aim to provide reassurance to residents while addressing concerns about the safety of youth in the area.
