MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A 57-year-old military veteran has been charged with capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting of two women inside a home in Montgomery County on Monday afternoon. Stanley Earl Hardin has been accused of shooting his estranged wife and her mother, who were found dead inside the residence on Shoreview Drive, just east of Conroe.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Hardin rammed his vehicle into the home around 2 p.m. before shooting the two women inside. The sheriff’s office stated that the wife had called 911 before the crash and again just before Hardin entered the house.

Sheriff Wesley Doolittle revealed that Hardin and his wife were still married, but she had recently moved out of their home and was staying with her mother at the time of the shooting. After the incident, Hardin fled the scene, but deputies were able to locate him at his home on Ivy Lane. Law enforcement set up a perimeter around the area in anticipation of a possible confrontation, but Hardin surrendered peacefully to authorities after speaking with a family member.

Doolittle confirmed that, as far as they are aware, Hardin has no prior criminal history. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are advising the public to avoid the area of Shoreview Drive as they continue their work at the scene.

The tragic shooting has left the community shaken, and law enforcement is continuing to gather details on the incident. Hardin has been formally charged, and further updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
