RIVERTON, Utah — A 25-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound following a two-vehicle crash in Riverton on Saturday evening. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, which occurred near the intersection of 13400 South and Mountain View Corridor.
Riverton Police responded to the crash scene after reports of a reckless driver who had collided with another vehicle. According to witnesses, the driver, identified as a 25-year-old male, was observed driving erratically before hitting the back of a second vehicle. His vehicle then veered off the road and came to a stop.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the man dead in his car, with a gunshot wound to the side of his head. The bullet had also shattered the driver’s side window, and a firearm was found near the driver’s foot.
The second driver involved in the crash stayed on-site and cooperated fully with the investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the gunshot wound was self-inflicted or the result of another factor.
Though details about the incident are still limited, Riverton Police have stated that the investigation remains active. The road was partially reopened, with only the left lane still closed near the intersection, and traffic has largely returned to normal.
