A Connecticut man has been charged with murder after a woman with severe head trauma was found dead in an apartment in Hartford on Sunday.
Patrol officers were dispatched to an apartment on Washington Street on Sunday around 6:58 p.m. for a well-being check of a female who was reportedly unconscious and not breathing, according to Lt. Aaron Bosivert of the Hartford Police Department.
As officers arrived at the scene, they came into contact with a man who allegedly refused to cooperate with police and would not allow them access to the apartment, Boisvert said.
According to Boisvert, officers forced their way into the apartment and located a woman who was suffering from severe head trauma, as well as the man who was allegedly behaving aggressively.
After the man was successfully secured by police, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene, Boisvert said. She was identified as 75-year-old Linda Anthony of Hartford.
The Hartford Police Department’s Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions were called to the scene to conduct the investigation.
Based on information obtained during the preliminary investigation, the man, who was identified as 52-year-old Ottahu Holder of Hartford, was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Hartford Police Detention Facility where he was charged with murder and interfering with police and was held on $1 million bond, according to Boisvert.
