A Connecticut man has been accused of trying to inappropriately touch an 8-year-old girl.
Michael Eggert, 51, of Marlborough was arrested Monday in connection with a warrant charging him with one count of risk of injury to a child, according to Connecticut State Police.
He was initially held on a $200,000 bond and was set to face a judge on Tuesday, state police said.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, the victim accused Eggert of asking her to pull her pants down on three occasions in March 2025. During one of the incidents, the girl alleged that he tried to touch her sexually.
State police began investigating on April 2, 2025, after the girl made the disclosure to her parents. She underwent a forensic interview a week later and told investigators that the first incident occurred in a home in Marlborough where Eggert allegedly asked her to pull her pants down as she was watching TV on a Saturday morning, the warrant affidavit said. The girl told authorities she told him “no” and went into another room afterward, closing the door, according to the warrant.
The girl claimed that the next incident occurred when she was left in a home alone with Eggert, the warrant affidavit said. She alleged that the two were watching TV together when he told her to pull down her pants, state police wrote. The girl said she yelled “no” and got up before Eggert allegedly grabbed her by the waist and began tickling her, causing her to slip on the carpet, she said.
The girl claimed that Eggert tried touching her in a sexual way as he was tickling her, but she was able to mostly avoid any contact by pushing him away, according to the warrant affidavit. She said he yelled “no” multiple more times and was able to pull away before going into another room, the warrant affidavit said..
The girl alleged that Eggert told her two more times to pull her pants down during a third incident but that she said “no” both times and went into another room, according to the warrant affidavit. She also claimed that he had told her more than once not to tell her mother and that it was a “secret” between them, the warrant affidavit said.
According to the warrant affidavit, the child told investigators the incidents made her feel “scared, mad and angry” and that she “didn’t like what Mike did to her.” She also said she was afraid of him with the belief that he had access to guns, the warrant affidavit said.
The girl disclosed what happened to both of her parents.
The mother told police the disclosure came after the girl asked if she could tell her something that Eggert allegedly said would make her mad, according to the warrant affidavit. She said she clarified with the child whether there was a rational reason why Eggert would ask her to pull her pants down, such as a spill on them or whether they were inappropriate for the weather. The girl told her no and said the three occurrences had happened within the past month.
The mother told police she confirmed that the most recent incident occurred when the girl was left alone with Eggert for a few hours, the warrant affidavit said. She reported the allegations to police the same day.
The incident was also referred to the state Department of Children and Families. The mother said a DCF investigator who was assigned the case asked her if she gave the investigator’s contact information to Eggert, as an attorney who represented him reached out to her through phone and email, the warrant affidavit said. The mother speculated that Eggert had accessed her phone logs and was able to obtain the investigator’s information, according to the warrant affidavit.
State police said Eggert declined to be interviewed during the investigation. An attorney sent authorities a letter on his behalf denying any contact with the child that could be described as “criminal,” the warrant affidavit said.
