The East Haven Fire Department extinguished a fire at East Haven’s DePalma’s Apizza late Sunday morning.

East Haven firefighters responded to the restaurant located at 440 Main St. just before noon. Firefighters “found heavy smoke coming from the building and fire in the rear of the building,” according to the East Haven Fire Department on Facebook.

“Fire companies forced entry to the structure and stretched the hose line where they found heavy fire in a rear cook prep room. They made a quick knockdown of the fire and began to overhaul,” the East Haven Fire Department said.

Firefighters said fire damage was limited to the rear room, but smoke damage was throughout the building.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the East Haven Fire Marshal’s office.
