UConn women’s star Tia Chan has repeated as Hockey East Goalie of the Year, joining four teammates on all-conference teams.
Chan started each of the Huskies’ 32 games, going 23-7-2, leading Hockey East with five shutouts, and her 1.62 goals-against average was second. She was third in the nation with a 9.47 save percentage. A grad student from Hamilton, Ontario, Chan played for China in the 2020 Olympics and led UConn to its only NCAA Tournament appearance in 2023.
This season, UConn is all but assured an at-large bid, regardless of the outcome of the Hockey East tournament this week.
Three skaters were second-team all-conference picks: Claire Murdoch, who had 11 goals and 18 assists; Julia Pellerin, who had 11 goals, including six game-winners, and defender Maya Serdachny. Captain Kyla Josifovic, who led the team with 34 points, was voted to the third team.
UConn, the No. 2 seed, starts postseason play in the conference tournament against No. 7 Maine on Saturday at Toscano Family Ice Pavilion at 3 p.m.
Quinnipiac sophomore Felicia Frank, who had a 1.31 GAA and six shutouts in conference play was named goalie of the year in the ECAC. Frank led the nation in overall wins with 24. Teammate Kahlen Lamarche, who set a school record with 35 goals, seven game-winners, joined Frank on the conference first team. Defender Mikayla Watson was named to the second team.
Yale defender Molly Boyle was a first-team ECAC selection, with teammates Carina DiAntonio and Jordan Ray on the second team and Gracie Golkyson on the third team.
UConn, Quinnipiac and Yale, sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively in NCAA Percentage Index, are all positioned for at-large bids in the NCAA Tournament. Yale starts ECAC tournament play with a three-game series against Union this weekend at Ingalls Rink in New Haven. Quinnipiac hosts Brown.
