A Connecticut woman is facing multiple animal cruelty charges following an investigation in Hamden.
Hamden Animal Control, in coordination with the Hamden Police Department, conducted an investigation into a reported animal cruelty complaint, according to police.
Animal control officers initiated the investigation after receiving the complaint. The investigation, conducted with Hamden police detectives, determined that the evidence collected supported criminal charges, police said.
Lisa Levy was arrested on five counts of animal cruelty and was scheduled to appear in court in Meriden, according to police.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
“The Hamden Police Department remains committed to protecting the safety and well-being of our residents and animals. We will continue to dedicate the necessary resources to ensure a complete and thorough investigation,” the department said in a release on Thursday.
Police said the department will release additional information as it becomes available.
