Two juveniles were taken into custody and the Westfarms mall was closed early on Saturday night after a group of an estimated 100 juveniles in the mall would not disperse, police said.

Officers from Farmington and West Hartford police departments responded to the mall shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday night “following reports of a large gathering of juveniles on the property,” according to the Farmington Police Department.

Police said a physical altercation occurred during the gathering and two juveniles were taken into custody.

“Due to the significant number of juveniles inside the mall and their resistance to disperse, mall management decided to close early to ensure the safety of patrons, staff, and responding personnel,” according to the Farmington Police Department.

No other incidents were reported, and all of the other individuals left the mall without issue, according to police.
