Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s eldest daughter, Rumer Willis, says she works “four different jobs” to support her young daughter and doesn’t “get money” from her famous folks.
The 37-year-old “Reasonable Doubt” actress made the surprising remarks on Instagram Monday, after “uninformed and rude people” responded to a post she made about the slew of responsibilities she juggles as a single mom.
The “Empire” alum said that in addition to tasks like laundry, meal prepping, bath time and planning after-school activities, she works multiple jobs as the “sole provider” for 2-year-old daughter Louetta, whom she shares with her ex Derek Richard Thomas.
“I don’t live off a trust fund or get money from my parents. Most of the time I don’t have help with [Louetta]. So how about y’all pause before you judge and assume,” Willis wrote.
She later shared a screengrab of a DM which pointed out that given her family, Willis still has “back up … a lot of people don’t have” to lessen the “added stress” that others face with monthly rent and bills.
Willis shared with her followers that she’s “very aware” she has privileges many people don’t and doesn’t take that for granted. However, she said she doesn’t treat her family’s support “as a backup plan” and feels “a lot of pride” in providing for herself and her daughter.
“There were years where I was the sole provider for multiple people, navigating pregnancy, inconsistent work, and the uncertainty that comes with that. So the idea that I don’t work or don’t understand financial pressure isn’t accurate,” she said. “People’s lives look different, and none of our experiences exist in a vacuum.”
Willis’ comments come amid her dad’s battle with frontotemporal dementia. The family initially announced in 2022 that the “Pulp Fiction” star was retiring from acting due to aphasia, which affects one’s communication skills.
Rumer Willis is oldest of her father’s five kids — which include her sisters Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 32, from his marriage to Demi Moore; and her half-sisters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, whom Bruce shares with current wife Emma Heming Willis.
