An Enfield man who was convicted of violating a protective order and sexually assaulting a woman in a Southington motel in 2024 has received a 20-year prison sentence.

Jeremy Figueroa-Gerena, 35, was sentenced on Feb. 11 by Judge Chris Pelosi to 30 years in prison, suspended after 20 years served, followed by 25 years of probation, according to a release from the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice.

On Aug. 25, 2025, a New Britain Superior Court jury, in a joined prosecution of two pending cases, found Figueroa-Gerena guilty of four counts of violation of a protective order and one count each of first-degree sexual assault, first-degree unlawful restraint and third-degree assault, the DCJ said.

Court records showed that Figueroa-Gerena sexually assaulted a woman at a motel in Southington in 2024. After the sexual assault, he reportedly physically assaulted and restrained her in his vehicle on the highway.

According to the DCJ, Figueroa-Gerena had a protective order prohibiting him from having contact with the woman.

New Britain State’s Attorney Christian M. Watson recognized “that the cycle of violence that we see in domestic violence cases is pervasive and hopes that this disposition is a significant step forward for the complainant in her process of healing,” the DCJ said in the release.

Watson thanked Southington Police Department, Troop H of the Connecticut State Police, the Hospital of Central Connecticut, the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s Division of Scientific Services and Victim Advocate Heather Major for “their efforts in the investigation and prosecution of this case,” according to the DCJ.
