Several Republican senators have demanded that CEA president Kate Dias resign over her statements concerning ICE activities in and around schools in Minnesota.
They accuse her of fear mongering because these actions have not occurred in Connecticut to the same extent.
Martin Luther King said that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” I commend President Dias for her proactive stance.
ICE agents do not display name tags or badge numbers and go about their activities while masked.
They have gunned down citizens in the street, forcibly taken people into custody without charge, beaten them and damaged their personal property. They have gassed people, including children, and separated families. They have arrested people for stating opinions they dislike and now claim to be able to issue their own search warrants without judicial oversight.
They call themselves a law enforcement agency while sowing chaos and discord wherever they appear. These actions are more akin to terrorism than law enforcement.
As a veteran and former local government official I have taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Perhaps the people who should resign are the representatives and senators at the state and national levels who have taken the same oath and betray it by turning a blind eye to the unconstitutional acts committed every day by a lawless regime.
