For a sixth consecutive week, the UConn women’s basketball team remains unanimous No. 1 in the AP Top 25 poll.

The undefeated Huskies have spent the entire 2025-26 season atop the poll, and the team continues to cruise through Big East play with a 90-44 rout of Creighton and a 71-56 win at Marquette last week. They face Villanova, the second-place squad in the conference, on the road Wednesday night.

According to the AP, this is UConn’s 654th ranked week under coach Geno Auriemma, tying legendary former Stanford coach Tara Vanderveer’s record for most appearances in the poll.

The Huskies were also projected as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament when the selection committee released its first top 16 rankings on Saturday.

Behind UConn, the top 5 teams remained the same — UCLA, South Carolina, Texas and Vanderbilt. The Commodores, coached by former Huskies star Shea Ralph, earned a major win over No. 4 Texas on Thursday, but the team didn’t move up in the poll after suffering an upset at No. 24 Georgia on Sunday.

While Ralph’s squad remains in the top tier, UConn alum Carla Berube‘s Princeton squad fell out of the poll for the first time since Dec. 15 this week following a loss to Ivy League rival Columbia.

The Huskies’ ranked non-conference wins continue to age well with four of their five previous opponents moving up this week. Michigan is up to No. 6 after dominating No. 18 Michigan State on Sunday, and Louisville also climbed a spot to No. 8. Iowa is up two places to No. 13 with a win over Washington, and Tennessee moved to No. 21 following a hard-fought two-point loss at Texas on Sunday. The only team to drop was Ohio State, which fell two places to No. 10 after getting upset by No. 14 Maryland.
