The Griswold Inn has announced that George and Martha Washington impersonators will be visiting from Friday, Feb. 13 through Monday, Feb. 16, according to a statement.

“The appearance is part of a broader moment in the Inn’s history,” according to The Griswold Inn. “Founded in 1776, The Griswold Inn will mark its 250th birthday alongside the nation with a yearlong slate of events recognizing its role as one of the country’s oldest continuously operating inns.”

“Over the holiday weekend, guests may encounter General Washington throughout the Inn for conversation, photographs, and informal storytelling, offering a sense of what life was like in 1776 as the nation was taking shape and the Inn first opened its doors,” the Griswold inn went on to say. “As the weekend also coincides with Valentine’s Day, guests may even spot George and Martha Washington spending time together at the Inn.”

“As we approach our 250th anniversary, moments like this allow guests to connect with history in a way that feels personal, engaging, and very much alive,” says Joan Paul, co-owner of The Griswold Inn. “This appearance is just one of many ways we’ll be marking this milestone year, with more opportunities for guests to engage with the Inn’s history throughout 2026.”

Guests can also look forward to special drinks to celebrate the occasion, according to the Griswold Inn, including “Madeira – Washington’s favored beverage as well as that of our Founding Fathers” and “the Inn’s own Revolutionary Ale.”
