A man was taken into custody in connection with a stabbing in Norwalk in the early morning hours Thursday.

Officers responded to the report of a stabbing in the area of 125 S. Main St. at 12:29 a.m. and found a male who said he had been stabbed in his upper left chest just below his collarbone, according to Lt. Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police Department.

The victim said the person who stabbed him stole his cell phone. He was taken in an ambulance to Norwalk Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Podgorski said.

Officers shared a description of the suspect with other units and collected video surveillance from nearby businesses, Podgorski said. After reviewing the video, Podgorski said police found a suspect in the area of Grove Street and took him into custody. Police identified him as 20-year-old Cristian Euceda of Norwalk.

According to Podgorski, Euceda was allegedly found with the victim’s cellphone and a knife. He was taken to the police department and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, first-degree threatening, carrying a dangerous weapon, second-degree breach of peace and violation of beverage container regulations.

Euceda’s bond was set at $500,000. He is scheduled to face a judge on Feb. 26.
