You don’t need to go far for a cozy Valentine’s getaways, according to a survey by Couples Finds.

Out of a poll of over 3,000 couples, three Connecticut towns ranked in the top 150.

The top in Connecticut? Litchfield, which came in at No. 33.

“Muted hills and a calm, lived-in quiet settle over Litchfield as winter arrives, giving the village a composed, unhurried feel. That atmosphere suits a romantic getaway built around contained evenings and slow transitions indoors. Historic inns and nearby cottages are well matched to the season, with fireplaces and thick walls holding in warmth. A daytime wander often ends at Village Restaurant before the light fades and the cold deepens, drawing the day to a close,” according to the survey.

Clocking in right below Litchfield at No. 35 was Essex.

“Once river air turns cold, Essex takes on a softer, more intimate winter presence that fits easily into a Valentine’s retreat. Historic streets grow still after dark, encouraging nights spent close to where you’re staying. Inns and small lodges lean into warmth and tradition, slowing the pace naturally. Dinner at The Griswold Inn Wine Bar fits seamlessly into the evening before most nights wind down early, back by the fire with nowhere else to be,” according to the survey.

A CT restaurant has won a coveted award twice. They say it’s because ‘great food meets comfort’

Coming in at No. 141 and the last Connecticut location on the list was Washington Depot.

“Winter quiet settles across the surrounding countryside, leaving Washington Depot feeling gently removed from anything hurried. That separation lends itself to a romantic getaway shaped by long nights and slow mornings. Cabins and country inns nearby provide the kind of comfort that suits the season well. A stop at The Pantry adds a simple, familiar touch to the day before the cold encourages everyone back indoors to settle in for the evening,” according to the survey.

The top 10 destinations couples want this Valentine’s Day were:

  1. Lake Placid, NY
  2. Aurora, NY
  3. Ouray, Colorado
  4. Gatlinburg, Tennessee
  5. Taos, New Mexico
  6. Apalachicola, Florida
  7. Fernandina Beach, Florida
  8. Bristol, Rhode Island
  9. Mount Dora, Florida
  10. Homer, Alaska

“Valentine’s Day seems to bring out a universal desire for small moments of connection,” said Juanjo Duran, CMO of Exoticca, in a statement. “These destinations aren’t about big itineraries – they are about atmosphere, warmth, and finding a place where time moves differently.”
