A man wanted for murder in a fatal shooting in Washington, D.C. was apprehended in Connecticut on Tuesday.

Tyjuan Bazemore, 35, was taken into custody in Middletown, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. He was apprehended by U.S. Marshals and the Middletown Police Department.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Bazemore was wanted in connection with a fatal shooting on Feb. 2 in the 3100 block of 16th Street Northwest.

The Metropolitan Police Department received a 911 hang-up shortly after 3 a.m. and responded to the area, finding that a woman had been shot in a residence, the department wrote in a news release. The woman, 27-year-old Nyesha Walden-Hatcher, showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Federal officials said Bazemore was identified as a suspect before a D.C. Superior Court judge issued a warrant for his arrest three days after the shooting. Investigators in Washington in search of the fugitive developed information suggesting that Bazemore had fled to Connecticut.

Investigators relayed the information to the U.S. Marshals Service Connecticut Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force. Task force members apprehended Bazemore in the 100 block of Rose Circle.

Bazemore was taken to the federal courthouse in Hartford and charged with second-degree murder while armed, officials said. He is expected to be held pending extradition to Washington, D.C.
