A liquor store employee in Wolcott has been accused of stealing more than $20,000 in scratch off tickets.
Authorities began investigating in December when they learned that lottery tickets and cigarettes were missing from North End Liquors, according to the Wolcott Police Department.
The department’s Detective Division investigated and found that more than $20,000 worth of scratch off tickets and $700 worth of cigarettes had been stolen throughout the year, police said.
An employee, identified as 42-year-old Jennifer Roberts of Bristol, was allegedly identified through surveillance video, according to police.
Police alleged that Roberts confessed when she was confronted about the thefts. Detectives obtained a warrant charging her with first-degree larceny.
Roberts turned herself in on Tuesday and was held on a $10,000 bond pending an arraignment hearing in Waterbury Superior Court.
