The UConn women’s basketball team has spent the entire 2025-26 season atop the AP Top 25, and the Huskies remained the unanimous No. 1 team for a fifth straight poll this week.
The Huskies are cruising through Big East play, earning another pair of blowout wins last week over DePaul and Butler. Their streak of 20 wins by at least 25 points is the longest by any team in the 21st century, and they will look to keep it going Wednesday against Creighton at Gampel Pavilion.
The top four teams — UConn, UCLA, South Carolina and Texas — held steady as they have for most of the season, but LSU dropped a spot to No. 6 after it lost to Texas on Thursday. Vanderbilt, coached by former Huskies star Shea Ralph, rejoined the top 5 in the Tigers’ place.
UConn’s resume took a few hits this week with both Louisville and Iowa suffering upsets. The Cardinals dropped three places to No. 9 after a loss to No. 11 Duke, and Iowa fell to No. 15 amid a three-game losing streak. Tennessee also had a disastrous showing against South Carolina on Sunday after escaping unranked Georgia with an overtime win Thursday, dropping three places to No. 22 in the poll. The Lady Vols suffered the worst loss in program history to the Gamecocks, 93-50, just a week after UConn gave them their second-worst loss all time.
But the Huskies still hold two wins over current top-10 teams. Michigan moved up to No. 7 after giving No. 2 UCLA its closest game since the start of Big Ten play, losing a 69-66 thriller at home on Sunday. Ohio State also continues to climb, moving up a spot to No. 8.
