One person was seriously injured in a house fire in Weston on Sunday afternoon.

The fire broke out at a home on Blue Spruce Circle shortly before 3 p.m. when fire crews responded to the residence for a fire alarm that was activated, according to the Weston Fire Department.

As crews were en route they received a 911 call reporting a fire in the basement of the home, fire officials said. Firefighters found a burn victim in the driveway and a heavy smoke condition throughout the basement.

The victim was tended to while fire crews worked to contain the fire to the area of origin, officials said. The victim suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to fire officials.

No other injuries were reported.

Crews performed overhaul efforts and vented the home, remaining on the scene until just before 4:20 p.m.

The Wilton Fire Department provided station coverage while firefighters were at the scene. Crews with the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene and were canceled before they arrived, officials said.

The fire did not leave the home uninhabitable, according to fire officials. The cause remains under investigation by the Weston Fire Marshal.
