CT man accused of assaulting man with aluminum baseball bat in Middletown

A man is facing assault charges after he allegedly beat a man with an aluminum baseball bat on Friday in Middletown.

Patrol officers responded to the area of 8 Liberty St. around 11:41 a.m. on Friday for a report of a man hitting another man with a bat, according to the Middletown Police Department.

Officers located the alleged victim who was suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment, police said. Police determined that he sustained his injuries after allegedly being struck with an aluminum baseball bat, which was recovered, according to police.

Officers identified the suspect as 64-year old German A Cartagena Rosado. He was arrested and charged first-degree assault of an elderly person, carrying a dangerous weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace. He was being held on a $500,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on Monday.

The identity of the victim was not released at this time, according to police.
