Police were searching for three suspects after they allegedly opened fire at a car Saturday, killing a man who had traveled to a Hamden street to meet with another person, police said.
The Hamden Police Department responded to the area of the 500 block of Mix Avenue shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday after receiving a report of a gunshot victim, according to the Hamden Police Department.
Police found the victim unresponsive and he was transformed to Yale New Haven Hospital where he later died of his injuries, according to the Hamden Police Department.
Police did not release the name of the victim at this time.
The investigation found that the victim traveled to the area of the 500 block of Mix Avenue “to meet with an unknown individual” on Saturday morning. Police said that three unknown suspects approached the vehicle and one of the three suspects allegedly shot the victim.
Hamden police said, “the remaining suspects fired additional shots at the vehicle” and then all three suspects fled on foot.
The Hamden Police Department the homicide is under investigation and detectives are actively following multiple leads. Police added that there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.
