A man is recovering after being shot early Saturday morning in Hamden, officials said.
On Saturday, around 4:01 a.m., Hamden police said they responded to 295 Treadwell St. for a reported gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. Police said the man was transported by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital for medical treatment and is alert and conscious. The man’s injuries are considered non-life threatening, police said.
An investigation indicates the incident occurred during a party inside an establishment, where two individuals became involved in a physical altercation. The man, who was working security at the time, attempted to intervene and was shot during the incident.
Police said they are actively investigating, and there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
