An operation conducted by police in West Hartford on Tuesday involving more than 40 motor vehicle stops reportedly led to more than half a dozen arrests and the seizure of guns and multiple types of drugs.
The operation was carried out by the West Hartford Police Department’s Patrol Division and Community Support Unit, according to police Capt. Aaron Vafiades.
Vafiades said police were targeting “street level offenses” and warrant services in town.
During the operation, Vafiades said police made 41 motor vehicle stops, four felony arrests and three misdemeanor arrests. One man was arrested on a “violent domestic assault” warrant, according to Vafiades.
Police also made two arrests on failure to appear in court warrants and charged three men with sale of narcotics, Vafiades said.
The investigation reportedly turned up more than $12,000 in suspected drug proceeds, 250 bags of fentanyl, 39.5 grams of crack cocaine, 39.2 grams of powder cocaine, 11 oxycodone pills, 16 ecstasy pills, 3.5 grams of PCP and two illegal firearms, including one fitted with an auto “switch” and extended magazine, Vafiades said.
