A man wanted in connection with a bank robbery in Berlin on New Year’s Eve has been arrested.

Thomas Marra, 54, of North Haven turned himself in on Wednesday afternoon in connection with a warrant charging him in a robbery at Webster Bank at 40 Webster Square Road, according to Dep. Chief Drew Gallupe of the Berlin Police Department.

Marra faces charges of second-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. He was held on a $150,000 bond and was expected to face a judge in New Britain Superior Court on Thursday.

Officers responded to the bank shortly after 10 a.m. and were told that a man allegedly handed the teller a note demanding money, Gallupe said. The individual allegedly threatened to use a gun.

Gallupe said the robber was seen leaving the area in a gray 2020 Cadillac CT6. Berlin police worked with local and federal law enforcement to investigate the holdup.

Later in the day, police carried out search warrants in connection with the investigation for a residence in North Haven and a “suspect” vehicle. The search and seizure warrants drew a heavy police presence to Route 5, where police say Marra resides.

Two days later, Berlin police announced that they had obtained a warrant charging Marra and that he was wanted by authorities. At that time, police said they believed he may have fled the state to the New York City area.
