The Rocky Hill Fire Department extinguished a structure fire at a commercial property on Laurel Road on Sunday morning.

The department was called to 11 Laurel Road shortly after 9 a.m. First responders arrived at a “commercial structure of masonry construction with heavy smoke showing from the front and side,” according to the Rocky Hill Fire Department.

The Rocky Hill Fire Department determined there were no occupants in the building and first responders used forcible entry to get into the building and to attack the fire from the interior.

The initial fire hydrant tried was frozen. The fire department was able to access other hydrants to access the water supply. The fire was knocked down at 9:25 a.m., according to the Rocky Hill Fire Department.

Parts of Dividend Road were closed during the fire. No injuries to any first responders were reported.

During the call, Task Force 51, which consists of members from Berlin, Cromwell, Newington and Wethersfield fire departments, were requested for town coverage.
