The Hartford Fire Department battled a two-alarm blaze at a vacant three-story apartment building in frigid conditions on Saturday night.

First responders received the call shortly after 11:30 p.m. and responded to the building at 131 Franklin Avenue in the south end of Hartford.

According to the Hartford Fire Department, firefighters arrived to “find heavy fire conditions throughout most of the building.”

The Hartford Fire Department said there was a “zero survivability profile” due to the volume of fire and unsafe conditions, and crews operated defensively.

The second alarm was called to bring in more firefighters and resources because of the frigid temperatures and the need for a frequent firefighter rotation.

Fire officials said the fire extended to an adjacent building and firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading. “There was damage to a nearby exposure due to broken windows from a partial collapse of the fire building,” fire officials said.

There were no injuries reported from the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office.
