The original 13 colonies wanted to form their own force, using their own people. They did not want to be defended by the British Army. That is the basis for the second amendment of our Constitution. We can form our own police force, using our own people.
Guns are to kill.
There is no reason why any ordinary citizen should own a gun. We have our police to protect us.
There have been dozens of school shootings since Sandy Hook.The mass shooting at Brown University on December 13, 2025, is the latest tragedy. My husband and two of our sons graduated from Brown, and it is close to our hearts.
What kind of society allows our children to be slaughtered and does nothing?
No citizen needs to own a gun. We have people at the local, state and federal level in law enforcement who represent us.
2026 is the 250th birthday of The United States of America, 1776-2026.
Let’s get the guns off the streets.
I suggest that the government buy back guns, melt them down and turn them into something good.
Then we can focus on the original reason why we “formed a more perfect union”.
