Santa Claus’s nine reindeer are cleared for takeoff in the Nutmeg state, according to the Connecticut Department of Agriculture.

“Following thorough physical exams conducted by veterinarians with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), all nine reindeer – including the one with the famous glowing nose – are healthy, fit, and ready for the magical journey,” according to the Connecticut Department of Agriculture. “The exams confirmed that the team is free of contagious diseases, such as brucellosis and tuberculosis, come from a CWD-free herd, and are in top condition for high-altitude sleigh travel.”

“Santa’s reindeer are an important part of holiday traditions for many families, and we take their health and safety seriously,” said Agriculture Commissioner Bryan P. Hurlburt. “I appreciate the efforts of our State Veterinarian and Animal Health team, along with the vast support network including AVMA veterinarians and other state animal health officials, to ensure that Santa’s team is ready for a safe and successful flight.”

This historic CT collection of thousands of toys keeps growing. Best part? They hope you visit.

For folks curious about the forecast this Christmas Eve-ning, the Connecticut Department of Agriculture is expecting a “light wind and partly cloudy skies. Should any trouble arise, Santa’s Emergency Landing and Veterinary Expert System (ELVES), a network of veterinarians, will be standing by throughout the journey.”

“Families can track Santa’s progress with NORAD Tracks Santa to follow along and see when they have entered Connecticut’s airspace,” the Connecticut Department of Agriculture went on to say. “Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all from CT DoAg!”
