An 18-year-old suffered facial injuries during a hit-and-run in Seymour on Sunday night.

The collision occurred just before 6:30 p.m. as the teen was walking in the area of 127 Bungay Road, according to the Seymour Police Department.

Police said the passenger side mirror of a passing pickup truck struck the victim’s face. The driver of the pickup, which was described as gray or white, fled the area after the collision, according to police.

A witness told authorities the vehicle could be seen going from Bungay Road to Canfield Road and then onto Botsford Road before accelerating and continuing onto Mountain Road, police said. The witness was not able to obtain the vehicle’s make or model, its license plate or a description of the driver, according to police.

The pedestrian suffered injuries to the right side of her face, including those to her cheek, teeth and eye area, police said. She was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover, according to police.

Police are asking the public for help locating the driver of the pickup truck, which may have damage to its passenger side mirror. Plastic debris believed to have come from the mirror was found at the scene, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Noss at 203-881-7600.
