Securing some world-famous New Haven-style pizza may no longer require a trip to Connecticut.

Sally’s Apizza has announced that it plans to open 255 new locations across 12 states starting in 2026.

Fortunately, New York has made Sally’s list with 25 locations projected.

The pizzeria’s expansion goals are as follows:

  • Texas: 45 locations
  • Florida: 35 locations
  • New York: 25 locations
  • New Jersey: 25 locations
  • Pennsylvania: 20 locations
  • Maryland: 15 locations
  • CT & MA: 15 additional stores each

The first Sally’s Apizza to hit New York state will be located in Roosevelt Field, with construction slated to start next year. The chain has not announced where it plans to build the other 24 proposed New York locations or given a timeline.

Founded in 1938 by Salvatore “Sally” Consiglio, the legendary pizzeria is famous for its “apizza”—a thin, coal-fired crust known for its distinct chew and char.

After decades of operating solely out of its original New Haven location, Sally’s began expanding in 2021. It began opening new locations in state before venturing into Massachusetts in 2023.

The chain’s popularity surged further after Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy ranked it the No. 1 pizza in the world. The brand also boasts a long list of celebrity fans, including Frank Sinatra, Paul Newman, Conan O’Brien, and Gordon Ramsay.
