Police: 16-year-old in critical condition after being struck by vehicle in Waterbury

A 16-year-old was hospitalized with critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Waterbury on Thursday morning.

Officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian in the area of 422 Highland Ave. around 8:27 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Waterbury Police Department.

Officers learned that the 16-year-old was crossing Highland Avenue at the same time a vehicle was traveling on the road. As result, the teen was struck by the vehicle, according to police.

The teen was transported to an area hospital where they were listed in critical condition on Thursday night, police said.

According to police, the driver involved was cooperative during the investigation.
