Born March 17, 2006, in Winfield, Illinois, Nolan grew up in Yorkville surrounded by a close-knit family that treasured his warm nature and spirited personality. He was the son of Dana M. Wood and Martin D. Wood and a beloved brother to Loren Nicole Wood. From an early age, he showed a passion for learning and an adventurous streak that carried through to his college years.

At Yorkville High School, Nolan was more than a student; he was a friend to many. Excelling academically, he graduated with honors in 2024 and was heavily involved in athletics and clubs, from cross country and football to track, where his dedication and team spirit set him apart. He also honed practical skills in auto mechanics—a hobby that turned into meaningful work and a source of pride.

Arriving at Colorado State University, Nolan embraced campus life fully. Pursuing mechanical engineering, he balanced rigorous studies with outdoor pursuits and club involvement.
