Yale’s Abu Kamara, who scored two touchdowns on defense this season, indicative of his all-around, active play in the secondary, was named to the Stats Perform FCS All-America first team.

The AP named Kamara to its second team.

Kamara, a 6-foot-1 junior from Prospect Park, Pa., the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, was in on 76 tackles for the Bulldogs, including 6 1/2 for a loss and 3 1/2 sacks. He forced three fumbles, recovered four, had two interceptions, broke up 13 passes and blocked a kick during the season. Kamara returned an interception for a TD against Cornell, and a fumble recovery for a score against Penn.

Dom Amore: How Josh Pitsenberger, Yale pulled off comeback for the ages in FCS playoffs

The Bulldogs (10-3), who shared the Ivy League title with Harvard and played in the FCS playoff for the first time in school history, were well represented on the All-America teams, as was Central Connecticut, the Northeast Conference champ.

Josh Pitsenberger, the Yale captain, who rushed for 1,571 yards and 19 touchdowns, was on the second team offense by Stats Perform, and honorable mention on the AP team. He was the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year, and rushed for 209 yards and a game-winning score in Yale’s come-from-behind win at Youngstown State in the first round of the playoffs. Yale was eliminated by Montana State in the second round.

Central defenders Jack Stoll, a linebacker and the NEC’s Defensive Player of the Year, and DB Chris Jean were both named to the third-team defense by Stats Perform, and honorable mention by AP. Central offensive lineman Isaiah DeLoatch, from Shelton, was an AP offensive honorable mention. The Blue Devils lost their playoff game at Rhode Island.

Sacred Heart running back Mitchell Summers, who rushed for 1,071 yards and 12 TDs, made Stat Perform’s all-freshman team.
